All of the dogs we have available for adoption will be posted here, along with all of the information that we have available on the dog. If you are interested in one of our dogs, please fill out our adoption application. Someone will contact you. In state adoptions have first priority!
Ty

Story:This little guy is named Ty. Ty is a parti yorkie and was born on November 7, 2011. He is approximately 9 lbs and a very sweet guy. He loves to play with other dogs and definitely likes being in the middle of everything. He is a very loving guy and loves to snuggle up against you in bed. He is crate trained and almost house broken. He also does well with children. He is very protective of his surroundings and will let you know when he sees someone or something that is normally not there. When this happens watch out he will run over anything getting to you so he can hide behind you, but after he realizes it is okay for them to be there he warms up to them very easily. Ty will make someone a wonderful pet and best friend. |

Story:My name is Hunter and I'm a special little boy in all kinds of ways. I've had many triumphs in life and I've had my share of issues too. I got out of the nasty puppy mill and that was wonderful! Then just when I was settling in to my new life, I developed dry eye in both of my eyes. You should read my blog! Anyway, I'm stable now. My left eye has been altered so that saliva keeps it wet now, but my right eye is inoperable, so it's still a pain in my stubby tail. I will need to keep appointments with my doggy ophthalmologist for the rest of my life and get several eye drops in my eyes. This will require a financial commitment from my humans for my doctor visits (2-3 times a year) and for my eye medications. I also get buttermilk powder in my food once a day and a vitamin C tablet to help with my eyes….those are my special daily treats! My foster mom can fill you in on all my medications and stuff. Other than that, I'm healthy! I'm a laid back, quiet guy that loves to sleep beside my human in the chair. I get along with everyone in the household. I'm not the kind of guy who will try to lick your face, but instead, I'll just lick your leg every so often. I'm affectionate, but I'm restrained! I'm a middle-aged dog at probably 7-9 years, but I still love to chase squirrels! I'm potty trained as far as poop goes, but I'm a marker, so belly bands are my friend J I'm looking for a home where my medical needs will be met and my people will stick with me and love me until the end of my days. Story:Cowboy is a 6 y/o, 9+ lb Maltese with a fabulous wash and wear coat. He is shy when first meeting new people, but give him a treat and he's yours. His favorite things are breakfast, a morning snack, dinner, an evening snack and going for walks on leash. He gets along well with all of the dogs in his foster home but could be an only dog if he is not left alone all day. He is house trained with a dog door. A fenced yard would be ideal. He is nervous around young children and would do best in a home with adults or teenagers. Cowboy has been patiently waited for his forever home and well bond with a new owner with time and patience, and most importantly, T.FOOD. He is well worth the effort. |

Story:Hello there, I'm Frankie. I'm a young boy and new to the Yorkie Rescue. I ended up at an animal shelter in Eastern Oklahoma and they called the Yorkie Rescue to come get me. I had an infection in my eye when I got to the shelter and the vet tried to make me better, but my eye had to be taken out. It doesn't bother me at all and I play just like any other dog. I My foster mom says I must have gotten lost from my old family because no one would want to give me up. I am potty trained, which I know is a bonus to lots of new adoptive families. I love to play outside with the kids in my foster home or the other dogs, and enjoy resting when I am inside. I sleep in my crate all night and never make a fuss. I would do just fine in a home with children or even just as a lap dog for someone who likes to cuddle. I don't weigh very much but am a tall boy. I love to chew on doggie sticks and lay beside you while your read or work. If you need a loyal companion who is friendly to all, I'm your guy. |

Story:Hi I'm Johnson! I was found wandering the streets, my collar was almost embedded in my neck. Some good people found me and turned me over to OKYR. Now I have a warm home and food. I am looking for a forever home that is quiet where someone can love me. My favorite thing is to sit in your lap and get petted. I am a little skinny, but now that I have a regular meal, I am sure I will gain a little weight. Since, that leash was stuck on me and I had to chew my way out, I don't want it back on, so I need a home that has a yard and I won't need the leash. If am the dog for you! Story:Marley is an adorable 4-year-old AKC registered yorkie. He comes from a loving family who unfortunately can no longer give him the kind of home he needs. Marley is a very energetic and happy dog. He loves people! He also loves meeting other animals, but he behaves best as the only pet in the house. He absolutely loves to play and needs someone who can give him plenty of exercise. He is a very loyal companion and loves nothing more than to spend his evenings curled up on a warm lap. Small children make him nervous, but he is otherwise outgoing and quick to make friends. Marley has a couple of minor health problems, but he is such a lovable, fun dog you would never know it. |

Story:My name is Skye and I'm a 6-7 year old gal who's looking for a quiet forever home. I was used to produce puppies for a breeder but am now enjoying the retired life. I get along with the dogs in my foster home and don't mind the cat at all. I tend to be a bit reserved when you first approach me but only because I'm still learning that human contact can be a good thing. Once I'm in your lap and realize all you want to do is pet and cuddle with me, I settle quickly and might even roll over for a belly rub! Foster mom thinks that as I have more and more positive interactions with people, I will develop the confidence I need to be a delightful forever friend. Despite all those issues, I am a sweet girl who is learning to love life away from the cage. Do you know that toys squeak? I just found that out and thought that it was pretty cool. Story:Hello! My name is Darby and I'm a Morkie. (Yorkie/Maltese) Foster mom says that I'm the sweetest boy just starving for your attention. I'm around 5 yrs. old and about 11 lbs. I get along with other doggies but would also be fine as your only child. I'm quiet and affectionate, a little shy and still carry some of my puppymill days with me. I'm doing better getting past all that and just need that loving family to give me that security. I'm not really of fan of small children and prefer adult females. Foster mom says that a fenced yard is requirement for me. |

Adoption Process
Once OKYR receives your application, we will begin the process. Each applicants references are checked and your vet will be called. If you have not had an opportunity to visit with the dog, one will be scheduled. Once all references are done an OKYR representative will schedule a time to visit your home.
Please be aware we receive multiple applications on our dogs. We endeavor to help find a good match for our rescues.;
